About

Built by people who know the report

ProSuitability comes from years of writing and reviewing suitability reports in UK financial advice.

In 2004, we began a collaborative venture with The Exchange and 1st Software to develop an exciting new suitability report writing software tool, adapted specifically to the needs of the IFA community. We then became the first founder partner, with The Exchange and 1st Software, in creating e-Suitability — a new desktop app which delivered ease and consistency to the creation of Suitability Reports.

Since our former partnership ended, our team tirelessly redeveloped the entire core software from scratch. We developed an entirely fresh schema design which affords a step change improvement in the potential for rich personalised content.

Yet the authoring tool will look instantly familiar to former users of the legacy software.

Our approach

ProSuitability is a drafting tool: it turns a fact-find and recommendation into a consistent, personalised first draft so you review instead of retype. A short statement of needs and demands is extra work on top of the report, not a substitute for it.

The constructor keeps the number of paragraph choices small, and the export is styled as a report — with an indexed table of contents — rather than a letter. The adviser still owns the advice.

The FCA’s core requirement (formerly the FSA) that a suitability report should be personalised to an individual client’s needs and circumstances is addressed in two ways. Firstly, the text library is sufficiently large to make it possible to produce a large variety of letter content through the use of automated features embedded in the software. Secondly, in every report, a number of opportunities are provided to manually insert text which links the recommendation more tightly to an individual situation.
